From September 30 to October 4, 2026, Casablanca hosts the eighth edition of the Casablanca Amazigh Theatre Festival, organised by Espace Tafoukt for Creation in partnership with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM). The edition coincides with the 25th anniversary of the 2001 Ajdir speech, a major milestone in Morocco’s institutional approach to Amazigh language and culture.
The 2026 festival incorporates the theatre category of the National Amazigh Culture Prize for productions created in 2025. IRCAM’s official notice specifies an artistic and technical dossier, the production poster and a recorded copy of the work among the application materials, with the call closing on August 14, 2026.
The festival’s broader role is to give Amazigh-language theatre greater visibility, encourage circulation between companies and audiences, and create a space for contemporary stage writing, performance and transmission.
