From October 8 to 11, 2026, Esther & Salma returns to Essaouira for a third edition under the theme “Crossing Borders.” The encounters explore exile, otherness, memory and transmission through film, visual arts, theatre, music, readings and public forums.
Directed by Catherine Becker, the festival works with the Essaouira Mogador Association and under the honorary presidency of André Azoulay. Its 2026 theme examines the crossing of geographic, cultural, symbolic and personal borders, treating artistic creation as a space for dialogue between different experiences and communities.
